Driehaus Museum Facade Ornament

Regular price $25.00 Sale

Adorn your tree this holiday season with a touch of Gilded Age extravagance.

Designed by the architectural firm of Burling and Whitehouse, the Samuel M. Nickerson House was commissioned by a wealthy banker in 1879 and was completed in 1883. The Nickerson family lived in the residence, nicknamed the Marble Palace, until 1900. Located in the fashionable McCormickville neighborhood, the opulent Gilded Age mansion was the most extravagant and expensive private residence in the city at the time of its completion. It was also one of Chicago's first fireproof residences in the wake of the Great Chicago fire of 1871. The building underwent an award-winning restoration and opened as the Richard H. Driehaus Museum in 2008.
