Following the 1889 World’s Fair, where the Eiffel Tower had made its debut, its restaurant was refitted as the 400-seat Théâtre de la Tour Eiffel. The dancing figures in this poster represent the members of the Paris-Chicago review held at the theater in 1893.
This work was featured in the Driehaus Museum’s 2017-2018 exhibition, L'Affichomania: The Passion for French Posters.
