Floral Birthday Book

Regular price $13.95 Sale

Interest in floriography (the language of flowers) soared in Victorian England and in the United States during the 19th century.  Flowers were used to send a coded language to the recipient, allowing the sender to express feelings which dared not be spoken aloud in Victorian society.

The Aesthetic Movement employed flowers through design similarly, giving a voice to a structure through its decoration so that it may send a message to those who enter or convey sentiments about those who inhabit the space.

This reproduction of a Victorian birthday reminder book entwines flowers and their emblems with great poetry.  365 color engravings grace this little book's pages with a section to note and keep track of birthdays or anniversaries.  Each day of the year is beautifully illustrated with a flower and a quote from a poem - a sentiment for those you celebrate.
